Mini MBA – PGCert in Business Administration (WBIS)

You can undertake the Mini MBA on an accredited basis and on successful completion will see you receive a PGCert in Business Administration (WBIS) from the University of Chester*

To be eligible to study at Level 7 you will need to already hold a senior leadership position and be actively looking to further develop your management and leadership skills. You may also hold a middle management position with aspirations for progression to senior leadership.

The Executive Mini MBA Programme consists of three modules leading to the Postgraduate Certificate in Business Administration (WBIS). This programme covers appropriate key aspects for a postgraduate certificate in line with the QAA Subject Benchmark Statement: Master’s Degrees in Business and Management (3rd Ed, 2015).

Assessment

In order to complete the PGCert each student will be required to undertake three assignments of 4000-5000 words (weighting 100% coursework).

Illustrative examples include an essay, report, oral assessment, portfolio – or a combination – as negotiated between student and tutor.

Specifically:

A work-based critically reflective portfolio (notionally 5000 words each) which typically includes a critically reflective essay or report on the relevant module theme, covering the learning outcomes.  Specific essay titles will be negotiated between student and tutor and in all cases will be applied to the student’s individual workplace practice.

Directors Development Programme – PGCert Strategic Leadership for Directors (WBIS)

The Directors Development Programme – PG Cert Strategic Leadership for Directors (WBIS) from the University of Chester*

To be eligible to study at Level 7 you will need to hold a Director position and will be looking to further develop your leadership skills. Alternatively you will hold a middle management position with aspirations for progression to senior leadership or company directorship. The course will bring you the robustness of an academic approach to learning, plus the reward of an academic qualification. It facilitates the development of your strategic leadership skills and your understanding of the requirements placed upon company directors.

The Directors Development Programme consists of three modules leading to the Postgraduate Certificate Strategic Leadership for Directors (WBIS). Advanced Management Programme – PGCert in Business Management (Subject to Validation)

 

Qualifications: You can undertake the Advanced Management Programme on an accredited basis and on successful completion will see you receive a PGCert in Business Management from the University of East London

To be eligible to study at Level 7 you will need to already hold a senior leadership position and be actively looking to further develop your management and leadership skills. You may also hold a middle management position with aspirations for progression to senior leadership.

The Advanced Management Programme consists of two modules leading to the Postgraduate Certificate in Business Management. This programme covers appropriate key aspects for a postgraduate certificate in line with the QAA Subject Benchmark Statement: Master’s Degrees in Business and Management (3rd Ed, 2015).

In order to complete the PGCert each student will be required to undertake two assignments, students will be required to complete 2 x 6000 word, work based assignments, that will require them to demonstrate how they have applied the theoretical content of the programme to their own professional context.  Each assignment will relate specifically to one of two modules:

  • Leading Projects and Programmes
  • Leading Organisational Change

Knowledge: The assessments will include a critical review of the theoretical concepts taught on the programme.

Thinking skills:  Learners will apply the theory to their own organisation, through the development of a real-world strategy.  They will also be required to evaluate the success of the strategy using measurements that are relevant and valid.

Practical skills: Learners will be required to plan, structure, and write 2, 6000 word strategic reports.

 

Students with disabilities and/or particular learning needs should discuss assessments with the Course Leader to ensure they are able to fully engage with all assessment within the course.

The CMI Level 7 Certificate in Strategic Leadership and Management

Qualifications: This qualification is designed for managers who have the authority and personal inspiration to translate organisational strategy into effective operational performance. The qualification require managers to build on their strategic management and leadership skills, and to focus on the requirements of implementing the organisation’s strategy.  You will be required to take the theory, thought leadership and research discussed on the programme, and implement it in your professional life by focussing on your own leadership development, and positively challenging organisational strategy.

Assessment

The CMI Level 7 Certificate in Strategic Management and Leadership is designed for Directors and Senior Managers who have the authority and personal inspiration to translate organisational strategy into effective performance. This qualification requires senior and aspiring senior leaders to build on their skills in strategic management and leadership and to focus on the requirements of inter-organisational strategy.

Delegates will be required to complete two assignments that require taught theory to be applied to the strategic organisational context. The first is focussed on professional development as a senior leader, the second requires the analysis and application or organisational strategy:

  • Personal development as a strategic manager
  • Reviewing organisational strategy plans and performance

 

CMI Level 5 Certificate in Leadership and Management

Qualifications: This qualification has been developed for practising or aspiring managers and leaders who are typically accountable to a senior manager or business owner. The primary role of a practising or aspiring manager and leader is to lead and manage individuals and teams to deliver aims and objectives in line with organisational strategy.  In order to undergo this professional qualification, you will be required to apply the learning from the Future Leaders’ programme to your own practice as a leader and developer of people. You will plan for your own development, and maintain a professional development record that will focus your progression towards senior and strategic future roles.

Assessment

The CMI Level 5 Certificate in Leadership and Management is aimed at practising or aspiring managers and leaders who are typically accountable to a senior manager or business owner.

Learners will be required to complete two assignments. The first requires participants to demonstrate an awareness of of leadership and management in action, and carry out a rigorous self assessment. Whilst the second asks learners to apply their succession planning and capability building skills through effective coaching and mentoring:

  • Principles of Management and Leadership in an Organisational Context
  • Developing, Managing and Leading Individuals and Teams to Achieve Success

 

CMI Level 5 Certificate in Coaching and Mentoring

Qualifications: This Level 5 qualification in Management Coaching and Mentoring is designed to develop management coaching and mentoring skills. It will help you to identify the links between coaching, mentoring and the achievement of business goals. The qualification is designed for managers who wish to apply coaching skills to better support or enhance the performance of their teams, and for individuals who wish to act as a professional management or executive coach.

Participants will be required to complete three assignments:

  • Introduction to management coaching and mentoring
  • Coaching practice and theory
  • Using coaching and mentoring skills as a manager

 

CMI Level 7 Certificate in Coaching and Mentoring

Qualifications: The Level 7 qualification in Leadership Coaching and Mentoring are designed for managers and leaders who have the authority and responsibility for developing and implementing a coaching and mentoring strategy across the organisation. This qualification requires managers and leaders to build on their strategic management and leadership skills and to focus on the requirements of embedding the organisation’s strategy. Additionally, this qualification will provide Organisational Development, or Learning and Development consultants, with the skill and current best practice approach to design, implement and evaluate coaching, mentoring and learning interventions.

Level 7 participants will be required to complete two strategically focussed assignments:

  • Coaching and mentoring within organisational culture
  • Organisational coaching and mentoring
