Women in Leadership: Overcoming Imposter Syndrome & Gender Inequality

As women become more visible in leadership roles, it's important to recognise the challenges they face in the workplace. Increased pressure and self-awareness, fighting against gender stereotypes and imbalance, and impostor syndrome hinder women's ability to focus on the job they were hired (and are qualified) to do. This is certainly not a unique or new issue, but it's one that still plagues many workplaces.

So, what can women do to address these challenges and become effective leaders? Fortunately, there are professional development training programmes designed to help, such as InPD’s CMI Level 7 Women in Leadership Programme. This four-day virtual or in-person course is recognised by the Chartered Management Institute and is designed and taught by experienced female leaders who understand the challenges that women face in leadership positions. This course is exclusively created for women and is structured to help them identify and overcome the issues that are unique to them.

The course covers many aspects of leadership for women, beginning with personal leadership signatures and tools to increase self-awareness. The course helps women identify the specific strategies they need to overcome gender inequality in today's workplace and develop a clearer understanding of leadership versus management. The course also provides tools that drive a values-based, authentic leadership culture through teams and organisations.

One of the key aspects of this course is the ability to identify "drains" and "fountains," which help women recognise what is draining their energy and what is sustaining them. This recognition helps women identify the root causes of their imposter syndrome and overcome it. It also helps female leaders enhance their interactions and move their careers in positive directions. The course teaches women how to inspire positive motivation in others, overcome common team dysfunctions, and communicate effectively in male-dominated environments.

The Women in Leadership program also provides coaching and mentoring skills to help develop successful leaders. Participants learn how to develop gender-inclusive workplaces and strategies. They also learn how to negotiate effectively and advance their careers.

The CMI Level 7 Women in Leadership Programme is designed for women wishing to develop professional management and leadership practice, and who will have the knowledge, skills and behaviours to drive business activities in a senior management and leadership role. Run in partnership with The Diversity Trust, this Chartered Management Institute course is a valuable resource for women in leadership roles looking to overcome the challenges unique to them. Enrol today and learn practical skills for workplace success.
