Young Managers: The Recent Trend in Modern Business

More 18 - 24 year olds are being fast-tracked into management roles. In this article, we will explore the advantages to hiring young managers.

In recent years, an increasing number of young people have been entering management positions. Traditionally, managers worked their way into these positions through years of experience within an industry, and therefore entered positions of management and strategic authority at a later stage in their careers. In recent years, there has been a shift, and more young business executives are entering and thriving within management positions. Here are some of the benefits that young managers can bring to an organisation.

A Fresh Approach

Young managers are less likely to follow traditional management strategies, and are more likely to take a more modern approach to management; emphasising on utilising Emotional Intelligence, enhanced communication skills, and by taking an analytical approach to situations within the workplace. This modern perspective to management can prove to be essential to organisations, who need to constantly evolve and adapt to remain relevant and competitive within their sectors.

Open to Feedback

Young managers are constantly learning within their roles. Due to their lower levels of experience, young leaders are more likely to ask for and take on board feedback in order to improve within their role. In contrast, older managers have more experience within their roles, and are more likely to be set into certain ways of working.

Eager to Learn New Skills

As a leading training provider, in recent years we have seen an increase in interest in our management and leadership courses among the 18 - 24 age demographic. This emphasises how keen young managers are to learn the right skills in order to be effective within their management roles.

Loyal to Their Organisation

Young managers are more likely to remain loyal to their organisations, as their organisations will have invested in their development, and given them the opportunities to get into their first management roles. This equates to a naturally higher sense of loyalty to an organisation, as oppose to an older manager who may have worked for a higher number of different organisations in the past.

These are just a few benefits that young managers can bring to an organisation. Click here to view our wide range of courses and learn more about the skills that are needed to be a successful manager.
