Senior Leadership Programme

Gill is the Deputy Head of Operations, North East at Marie Curie. 

Marie Curie is a charity that cares for people who have cancer other illnesses. Marie Curie was first founded in 1920. Marie Curie support everyone in the UK through all aspects of illness, dying, death and bereavement, to fight for a world where everyone gets to lead the best life they can, right to the end.

Gill had some key learning objectives and challenges prior to her completing this course after 13 years in her previous role as a facilities manager. 

Gill informed us that she really enjoyed the Senior Leadership Programme as she stated that this was extremely interesting and engaging. She later said that she thought it was a great way of sharing practice and experiences. 

Gill then went on to say that the tutor that she had was very knowledgeable and ensured that all of the other people on the course participated which then came out into the break out rooms that the other students would go in to without the tutor and all talk about information and ideas which really helped her. 

Gill stated that the skills she has learned from the Senior Leadership Programme has definitely supported her with her confidence and it made her realise that she does know what she is doing without any doubts before she makes a decision. This also helped her think about her management style and that she has already made some changes around what time of day she emails in case she was making her team feel like they had to work or reply out of hours. 

Gill has took all of the skills and the information away with her that she has learned on the course and she has already started applying them her her job role.
