Frequently Asked Questions
Your CMI qualification consists of two parts – the classroom phase, and associated assignments. In order to achieve the qualification, you will need to complete both parts. During the classroom phase you will be given the option to register for a CMI qualification by completing a registration form.
If you have chosen to proceed with the qualification you will be registered with CMI and will receive the relevant support materials and CMI website log in details. The registration process takes between four-six weeks, and you will hear from us within this time frame.
You will need to complete anything from one to five assignments, depending on the specific course and type (award or certificate). Each assignment addresses one unit on the qualification syllabus and is broken down into assessment criteria.
When you have finished the classroom phase and have completed the CMI registration form (your class tutor will talk you through this form), we will register you with CMI to enrol you on your qualification. We will email you with four-six weeks, following your attendance in the classroom, with information specific to the assignment writing phase.
We will send you:
- your assignment syllabus;
- supporting materials (statement of authenticity, CMI assignment guidance); and
- monthly tutorial schedules.
CMI will email you directly:
- CMI log-in details – this will provide online access to a wide range of study resources.
It is important that you thoroughly read the CMI assignment syllabus and template we send to you. These contain information about the content of your assignments and word count - the latter being specific to the unit and qualification you are doing. You will need to ensure your assignments fall within the word count restrictions or they will be rejected by the assignment markers at CMI.
The recommended time frame per assignment is 6 months. There is a direct correlation between submission timeframe and success upon completing the assignments for all levels within 6-12 months of the classroom phase.
· Award – you will have 12 months to complete this assignment, there is only one assignment to complete for the Award at either Level 5 or 7.
· Certificate – you will have 3 years to complete this assignment, there are usually 2 assignments to complete for a Certificate at either Level 5 or 7.
However, we strongly recommend students aim to complete their assignments within 6 months of completing the classroom phase – this will keep you focused and ensure the material is always fresh in your mind.
As part of your course fee, we will register you with the CMI. Once your account is created, your qualification window is open and you will have access to a wealth of online
learning resources with CMI (Management Direct). Once you have been registered you will receive an email containing your CMI account details. This account is held between you and the CMI and you will have access for the duration of your qualification.
As part of your course fee you are given free, unlimited access to post-classroom tutorials following CMI registration. The purpose of the tutorials is to help you through the assignment writing phase of your qualification. These tutorials are run by our CMI-qualified tutors and provide an opportunity to raise any questions about the assignments, review any classroom materials and share knowledge and experience with your peers. Please note that all content must be your own original work; our tutors can help you with the process and signpost you to helpful resources. Tutorials are usually delivered live by webcast. We will email you each month with the joining details (please ensure we have a personal email address for you).
Once all your assignments have been marked and passed, you will then receive your CMI qualification certificate. There can only be one original certificate so please ensure we have the correct information for the name as you wish it to appear, and the address you’d like the certificate to be posted to. Fees may apply to changes to your name after you have submitted your registration form.
During the completion of your assignments, you have access to the CMI website and online tools. Following completion of your assignments, you may have the opportunity to join the CMI as a member and you would need to discuss options for this directly with CMI.
Those learners that successfully complete and are awarded the Level 7 Certificate in Strategic Management & Leadership would be eligible for 'Fast Track' to Chartered Manager status. This route builds on the completion of your eligible CMI qualification and provides a fast-track assessment process taking into account your prior learning with CMI.
