Professor Jackie Potter
Dean of Academic Innovation, University of Chester
Professor Jackie Potter joined the University of Chester as the first Dean of Academic Innovation in 2022. She is responsible for the Student Education Plan and leads the Centre for Academic Innovation and Development (CAID). CAID is an influential unit with a university-wide remit and acts as the creative catalyst for educational enhancement, curriculum development and academic practice across the university. Jackie has fifteen years experience leading educational change in the UK and Ireland and was the Chair of the national network, HEDG (Heads of Educational Development Group) from 2020-2023. She has served as a Trustee for SEDA (Staff and Educational Development Group) as a past Chair of their Papers (publications) Committee and a periodic contributor to their popular SEDA Blog. She is a Visiting Professor at Oxford Brookes University, and a Principal Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (Advance HE) and a Senior Fellow of SEDA. She is currently the Deputy Chair for the Education Studies Subject Benchmark Statement Advisory Group for the Quality Assurance Agency.
Karen Cregan
Senior Lecturer, University of Chester Business School
Karen is a Senior Lecturer within Chester Business School, a qualified coach and workplace mediator. She is responsible for designing and delivering technological and educational learning interventions for current and future leaders. She uses Lego Serious Play in Education and Business environments to stimulate conversation, generate innovative ideas and promote teamwork.
Maud Duthie
Programme Manager in Faculty of Science Business and Enterprise, University of Chester
Maud is a Programme Manager at the University of Chester’s Faculty of Science Business and Enterprise. She is a qualified Prince2 Practitioner and has been managing and developing capital and revenue projects for the University since 2013. Maud’s projects aim to be a dynamic collaboration that bridge the gap between academia and the business world to drive innovation, business growth and upskilling of staff. She has completed the Lego Serious Play Train the Trainer course and actively imparts her knowledge by delivering engaging sessions for example to MBA students and at Chamber of Commerce’s networking and business events.
Dr Alex Fenton
Associate Dean for International for the Faculty of Science, Business and Enterprise, and Associate Professor in Digital Transformation
Dr. Alex Fenton is Associate Professor of Digital Transformation at the University of Chester and Associate Dean for International in the Faculty of Science, Business and Enterprise. Alex has a BSc, A Masters and a PhD in digital media communications and has published research in some of the world’s leading journals and books on digital transformation and digital marketing.
Ian Turner
Professor of Learning and Teaching in Higher Education, University of Derby
Professor Ian Turner is a Professor of Higher Education in Learning and Teaching of Higher Education, a National Teaching Fellow, and a Principal Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. He co-runs three national communities of practice: #DryLabsRealsScience, #RemoteForensicCSI, and Dungeons and Dragons in Higher Education. He is an experienced pedagogic researcher, with specific research interests focused on game-based learning and using games as pedagogic tools in Higher Education.
Dr Suvodeep Mazumdar
Senior Lecturer in Data Analytics, University of Sheffield
Following the completion of his MSc in Advanced Computer Science at the University of Sheffield, Dr. Suvodeep Mazumdar joined the Department of Computer Science as a researcher in the area of Human Computer Interaction, Data Visualisation, and user interface development. He subsequently pursued his PhD, titled ‘Visualising Large Semantic Datasets: A generic, scalable and aesthetic approach’. His PhD thesis focused on applying interactive visualisations and User-Centered Design techniques to support the exploration of large semantic datasets. Dr. Mazumdar briefly worked in the Centre for Assistive Technology and Connected Healthcare as a research scientist before joining the Department of Computer Science in 2014 as a postdoctoral researcher to continue his research on large-scale data analytics. He joined Sheffield Hallam University as a lecturer in Computing in September 2017, and subsequently joined the Information School at the University of Sheffield as a lecturer in October 2018.
