Vicky is the Customer Experience Manager at Blackpool Transport, which runs the bus and tram network across the resort and the Fylde Coast.
The business is looking at how to create an organisational development culture as it evolves.
Vicky was nominated by her manager to attend the online MBA programme.
The Mini MBA covered a range of topics that fitted perfectly with what we want to achieve within the business.
It refreshed my existing knowledge, and gave me direction about how to start planning for an organisational development culture. I learnt about people, and different models that can be used to get the best out of individuals.
Although I have worked with external customers for many years, I started to think about the product Blackpool Transport has to offer, and how we can improve.
Each subject gave me a better understanding of the different departments that make up a business, and this has increased my confidence.
Applying the learning
I am using psychometric testing in interviews, and have learned not to employ someone just because I like them.
The way I hold a conversation has changed. I am thinking differently, and plan to introduce models throughout the business to help others to do the same.
I am going to develop the mission and vision statements for the two teams I manage in line with those of the business as a whole. This will give each of them a sense of purpose and direction, and will tie the company’s values into our team goals.
The course covered a little bit of everything that I needed to expand my knowledge upon.
The Mini MBA has significantly developed my knowledge. I would highly recommend this course.
