Name: Heidi Hathaway
Company: Delta-T Devices
Heidi works at Delta-T Devices, a manufacturer of measurement instruments for environmental science.
It is a workers’ co-operative with 31 members, and is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year.
Eighty per cent of its business comes from exports.
Heidi is new to the role of company director and attended our course to gain tools which would be useful to her role and to the business.
I received an email about the course, and the content looked interesting. It ran for two full days, with a combination of working in groups and individually, being talked to and taught and looking at helpful video clips and other useful materials, which taken together provided a good balance.
It was a very good course, packed full of information. We had a good tutor, who knows his subject. Additionally, it was nice to have so many other people on the course. This made all the difference.
Applying the learning
The course provided lots of support information, along with new tools and methods which were explained with clear examples of how we could improve the way we work together.
Being new to the role of company director, it has given me so much to think about and share with my colleagues.
I have since enrolled three other members of the management team on to the course.
We want to encourage more of our people to attend training courses, to up-skill and learn new tools and techniques. The course also provides a good chance to network with people from other businesses.
I would definitely recommend it.
