What challenge were you looking to address?

I recently took on ownership of ESG for our group, and although I came from a background in risk and compliance, I knew there were gaps in my knowledge. With new team members joining, it was essential for me to feel confident in leading them and truly understand what we were working on. I needed a way to bridge that gap and prepare myself to lead effectively in this new area.

“I needed to make sure there weren’t gaps in my knowledge – and this training really set me up for success.”

What was the solution you opted for?

I chose to enrol in an ESG training course delivered by In Professional Development. It offered the kind of focused, structured learning I needed to deepen my knowledge, rather than trying to piece things together from articles or online sources. Having access to an expert tutor and interacting with other professionals tackling similar challenges really stood out for me.

“The ability to ask questions and hear other business perspectives was incredibly valuable.”

What was the approach to the training?

The course gave me dedicated time away from the day-to-day to really focus on ESG. The tutor, Ian, was clearly very knowledgeable and approachable, which made a huge difference. We could ask questions throughout, and hearing how other businesses were approaching ESG gave me fresh perspectives. The course materials were also well-designed—clear, digestible, and something I’ve gone back to since.

“I came away with a clearer understanding of how our ESG strategy should look moving forward.”

What value did InPD bring?

InPD provided more than just information—they created an environment where I could validate what I knew, uncover what I didn’t, and start shaping a real plan. The ability to learn from the tutor and peers, and to ask practical questions, helped me develop a clearer strategy for how we as a team would move forward. I also appreciated the post-course materials that I continue to reference.

“The materials provided were easy to digest and have already proved useful post-course.”

What were the 3 key takeaways that the training impacted you and your organisation?

  1. Confidence: I now feel much more comfortable and prepared in my new ESG responsibilities.

  2. Clarity: The training helped me define a clearer structure and strategy for the team moving forward.

  3. Validation: It confirmed what I already knew—and more importantly, highlighted the areas I needed to strengthen.

“If you’re stepping into ESG responsibilities, I’d highly recommend this course – it provides the solid foundation you need to succeed.”
