Operational Management Course – CMI Level 5 – Sagentia

What challenge were you looking to address?

I was relatively new in my role as Operations Manager and hadn’t had any formal training. I wasn’t facing a specific business challenge, but I wanted to make sure I wasn’t missing anything obvious that I should be doing in my position. Coming from a different background, I suggested the training to my organisation to validate and expand my understanding of the role.

“It was a really good validation for how I’m already working.”

What was the solution you opted for?

I took part in the Operational Management course, delivered over 3 days, virtually. It was interactive and focused on both people and process elements. What stood out was how the content was tailored to the group—even going beyond the curriculum at times to explore strategic areas that felt especially relevant. Despite being virtual, the delivery was seamless and really well structured.

“The course gave me a more rounded, strategic view of my role.”

What was the approach to the training?

The training was well-paced and flowed naturally, even though it was delivered virtually. It began with a focus on people and leadership, then shifted toward refining processes and exploring organisational impact. Rather than introducing brand new ideas, it reinforced effective practices and helped me recognise and better understand what I was already doing. The small group size allowed for meaningful conversations I wouldn’t normally get in a larger setting.

“It’s a great yardstick to measure where you are and where you can go.”

What value did InPD bring?

The biggest value was validation. It confirmed that a lot of what I was already doing was right, which gave me confidence. It also gave me the language and terminology to express what I was doing more clearly—which helps both in communicating with my team and upward within the organisation. The course made me think more strategically and gave me a broader view of how I can contribute beyond my current role. Even though it was my first virtual course, it felt seamless, engaging, and well thought out.

“Don’t be put off by virtual delivery – it was slick, engaging and highly effective.”

What were the 3 key takeaways that the training impacted you and your organisation?

  1. Validation – It reassured me that my current approach was sound, which gave me a strong foundation to build on.

  2. Strategic Thinking – The training helped me zoom out and consider how I could contribute to the business at a more strategic level, not just operationally.

  3. Confidence and Clarity – I can now articulate my value more clearly using the right terminology, and that has already helped me in taking on more responsibility.

“It gave me the confidence and terminology to communicate my value more clearly.”
