Your Day Training on a CMI Course with In Professional Development

Your Day Training on a CMI Course with In Professional Development

CMI courses are valuable courses for management professionals.

A course with a CMI accreditation is a guarantee that the qualification holder has received high-quality management training.

Below we share with you some insight into what you could expect to experience when you enrol for one of our CMI-accredited courses. We’ll explain to you how a schedule looks and some of the learning activities you might perform. We’ll also outline the courses we offer and discuss some of the assessments the course tutors will set you.

Your day training on a CMI course with In Professional Development

Enrolling on a CMI-accredited course is an immensely valuable opportunity to benefit from specialised training in a warm and welcoming environment that fosters collaboration between the attendees.

Attending classes

Normally, classes start at 9.00 am, with a registration period taking place 30 minutes earlier, allowing the course to begin promptly so that participants can get the most out of the content.

We run classes face-to-face and online. The face-to-face classes enable participants to interact more closely with others in the class, to benefit from the rich communication between the tutor and the attendees, and to focus on the course content with fewer distractions.

Our virtual classes make attendance straightforward, saving you the cost and the inconvenience of a commute to a course venue. Participation is easy, and just as physical spaces provide opportunities to make connections, you can network online with the other participants and consult your tutor, courtesy of the WhatsApp group(s) for the course.

Schedule

The daily timings of courses remain at the discretion of the tutor. Generally, we split each day into four sessions of between 1 and 2 hours (or four 90-minute sessions in the case of the virtual courses). This prevents the course tutors from having to rush through modules, instead,  allowing them time to lead you through all content in sufficient depth.

Course activities and tutors

You’ll be taught by tutors who are highly experienced in the subject matter. The online courses will be conducted over Zoom and the networking elements over WhatsApp. Face-to-face training will incorporate group learning and individual workshops.

The courses will entail learning activities such as:

  • Didactic learning, in which the tutor imparts their knowledge to the course participants, providing them with the theoretical grounding to support their actions when they perform the roles.
  • Role-playing, which fosters skills such as problem-solving, working in a team, active listening, practising empathy, and general communication skills.
  • Scenario setting, which enables participants to practise skills including decision-making, to make mistakes and, through feedback, learning the right approach.

Assessment

Depending on your course, you’ll be asked to complete two assignments, or three. These assignments will demonstrate how well you’ve assimilated the information and teachings from the course and give you the opportunity to apply them in potential true-life scenarios.

On the CMI Level 5 Leadership and Management Programme, you’ll conduct a thorough self-assessment and demonstrate your awareness of leadership and management in action. Your second assignment would then involve applying effective coaching and mentoring to illustrate your skills in succession planning and capability management.

The CMI Level 5 Coaching and Mentoring Programme will require three assignments from you. The first would be an introduction to coaching and mentoring; the second, on coaching practice and theory; and the third, on using coaching and mentoring skills as a manager.

Progress to a Level 7 course and the assignments adopt a more strategic focus. You’ll be looking at coaching and mentoring within an organisational culture with a focus on individual self-awareness and coaching practice.

Our CMI courses

We coordinate a range of CMI-accredited courses, each looking at different aspects of leadership and management. The Level 5 course focuses more on direct management, whereas Level 7 courses look at management from a more strategy-based perspective.

At In Professional Development, you can study the following CMI-accredited courses:

Course participants have benefited immensely from their training with In Professional Development, gaining not only professional knowledge and insight, but also clarity and a deep understanding of the true requirements of their role.

Ashley Aiken, who came to us from the Oxford Academic Health Science Network, attended our CMI Level 5 Leadership and Management Programme. He told us the following:

After finishing the three days training, I felt more confident and reassured as a leader. I’ve never been in a manager’s position so performing as a line manager is new to me, yet whilst on the course, I realised that I knew more about leadership and management than I first thought, and more importantly I realised that I was spending far too much time doing activities that could have been delegated.”

Some participants have found the courses exceeded their expectations,  inspiring them to create coaching and mentoring schemes within their companies. One of these people is Sally-Ann Higgins, who completed our CMI Level 7 Coaching and Mentoring Development Programme. Ms Higgins came to us from the insurance broker Marsh, and had this to say:

I had previously seen many of the modules, but several were explained in new ways to me, which heightened my understanding of them. […] I would absolutely recommend this course to anyone looking to develop their coaching and mentoring skills. It was fabulous, and I got way more out of it than I thought I would.”
